For Love of Dog

Film by Anna Bondarenko.

The film “For the Love of Dog” explores the theme of special connection between people and animals, especially sled dogs, and why it is so important in our lives. The film includes interviews with 3 mushers, Jim Lanier, Gunnar Johnson and Mike Parker, sharing their stories about the amazing, young leader Solo. They describe her assertive and playful personality and a short but remarkable lead sled dog carrier, including her being in lead of the winning team in the Kobuk 440, 2022.

This film was created at See Stories’ professional development retreat for educators in Willow Alaska in June 2025 as part of the Anchored Histories Alaska (AHA!) intensive.
