Kindling Conversation Guides

These conversation guides were developed in partnership with Alaska Humanities Forum and their Kindling Conversations Program.
They explore the following questions:
How can we create a sense of home for ourselves and others? in connection with the film “Anchorage Refugees: Cultivating Food and Belonging” by Anchorage educator Jasmine Redgrave.
What can we learn from the plants around us to strengthen our connection to each other and the land? in connection with the film “Rooted in the Land- Ethnobotany in Alaska” by Anchorage educator Alexis Griffee.
Reflect on a story from your ancestry that has been passed down (or lost) over generations in connection with the film Visiting Elders at the Initak by Roben Nuiluk Itchoak.
Find the conversation guides below. They are designed to host conversations in the classroom or over dinner with friends.
Additional curriculum resources, including our Digital Storytelling Curriculum, are available in the TeacherTools section of our website.
