Your donation matters now more than ever. Our annual budget was just cut from $900,000 to less than 1/3 of that when the Department of Education suddenly rescinded our bread and butter grant that supported us to work with 50+ educators annually and thousands of students by extension.
We are grieving, but also taking action to continue to meet our mission to build inclusive communities with film and story. A teen (and emerging Tlingit filmmaker) we work with in Wrangell recently shared that See Stories “believed in me before I believed in myself, and… planted the seed that’s now grown into a deep passion and career path. I’m so grateful for everything you have done—for me and for countless others. You all have built more than films; you built futures.”
Now more than ever we need your support to keep building the future for Alaska’s youth. They deserve the support to share their voices & community stories, stories that have the power to change the world for the better. Stories like this created by Tlingit teenager Angel Jack that shares Angoon’s healing journey after the US Navy bombarded them in 1882. Musical stories like this by teens who wanted to share about mental health struggles and solutions.

What Our Supporters Say
”It’s the untold stories that are out there that have affected the communities that need to be brought out so the healing process can start. I found my voice when I took the See Stories class. These were things that were already in my head and my heart, but I was afraid to come out of that shell. But it brought me out of that shell and nobody can stop me now.”
– Barbara S., Alaskan Educator
“A phrase that comes to mind is embracing culture. I was able to interview my sister and learn about our culture. There hasn’t been a course in education when I had that opportunity. See Stories not only teaches students, but it nurtures students to grow as people who will continue the mission of empowering others.”
– Rafael B., See Stories Student Alumni, Collaborator
“With See Stories I felt like I was making a difference, and in some small way I was impacting my community.”
– Scout, See Stories Student Participant
“See Stories connects others, so you don’t feel alone when you are making your own project.”
– Tchabo, See Stories Student Participant
