Movie Monday: The Price of Change

Each week, we share short films created through See Stories programs. These films highlight stories of place, culture, and community from across Alaska.

Our first film, The Price of Change, a film by Naknek Student Brennon Peters, looks at the relationship between salmon prices, commercial fishing, and the well-being of local families and Bristol Bay communities. Through reflections from local fishermen, the film considers how changing prices and rising costs affect a way of life that has been passed down through generations.

These films were produced during the 2026 Currents of Connection youth media workshop in Naknek. Made possible by generous support from the World Wildlife Fund and the Bristol Bay Economic Development, with partnership from Native Movement, Bristol Bay Media, the Naknek Native Village Council, and the Bristol Bay Museum.
