Listening to the River
In October 2025, See Stories collaborated with the Center for Braiding Indigenous Knowledge and Science (CBIKS) and the community of Nulato to lead a youth digital media workshop focused on climate change and community resilience. Over the course of the week, high school students developed interview questions, recorded soundscapes, and created short documentary films exploring environmental change through lived experience and local knowledge.
This film, created by See Stories collaborator Alyson Kenney, documents the intergenerational knowledge sharing that took place between youth, Elders, and community members. Through interviews and observational footage, the film highlights how stories, memory, and relationships to land and water shape understanding of climate change in Nulato.
Maasee’ to the Nulato Tribal Council, the CBIKS place-based team, and Dr. Katie Archer Olson for their leadership, trust, and support throughout this project. Thank you as well to the students, Elders, and community members of Nulato for sharing their time, stories, and knowledge.
