Tlingit Language and Culture
This film explore the Tlingit language and Culture. This film is meaningful to Yakutat youth, because in the words of student filmmakers Damianne and Ellaina “it is our culture that we celebrate in Yakutat, and it is the culture our ancestors passed down to us.”
This film was produced during the 2025 Yakutat Middle School “100 Years From Now” youth film workshop, made possible with funding provided by the National Park Service, the Alaska Mental Health Trust, and the Alaska State Council on the Arts.
Workshop Info
These films were created by Middle School Students from Yakutat, Alaska. Inspired by a community wide effort to create culturally centered land stewardship and planning, students reflected on important events and themes in Yakutat over the past 100 years as a touching point to express their hopes and dreams for the next 100 years.
